Chasing the Sunshine

In years past, I spent a lot of time during the winter months focused on keeping my mood up and minding my mental health. I had a whole slew of tricks to counter the lack of daylight, including, but not limited to, surrounding my home with candles, changing my desk lamp to a full spectrum bulb, hiking outdoors wearing removable layers, and taking vacations to sunny places. Now that we are essentially chasing the sun, none of that is necessary. I realize now how much energy I had to expend to combat the winter blues, and I’m grateful I don’t have to think about it anymore.

That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy some things about winter! There was nothing like waking up on a snowy morning to learn the kids didn’t have school, so consequently I didn’t have work, and then making hot chocolate and enjoying the silent beauty of the pretty white stuff. There was also value in slowing down early when the daylight ended and working with a more rhythmic, seasonal schedule. But still, I’m very happy trade the winter weather for sunshine, the frigid temperatures for warmth, and the snow for sand. I’m more productive, I feel lighter, and it’s just easier to be outside whenever I want. Here’s to chasing the sun!

IN OTHER NEWS…

Tomorrow I’ll be releasing Betrayal as an ebook via Amazon and KDP. I first wrote this story for Amazon’s new Kindle Vella platform, and I downloaded each ‘episode’ a week or so at a time until it was complete. Last month, my amazing designer, Steven Meyer-Rassow, created a sexy cover, and I got the text formatted for Kindle. READER BEWARE! This tale is darker, edgier, and more explicit than the TSI romantic suspense series. If this is not your cup of tea, please feel free to skip. I’ll be working on the next installment in the TSI series very soon!

Here’s a glimpse of our life on the move from the last two weeks…
