A Great Big Thank You!

Dear Maggie,

Do you have any book events coming up?

Sincerely,

Book Lover in Bangor

Dear Book Lover,

As a matter of fact, I do! It’s time for the 10th Annual RI Author Expo, a festive event featuring over 100 local authors. Join me at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10 am - 5pm. The day will be jam packed with panels, programs, raffles, and even Santa. I’ll be signing all books from the TSI and HORIZON series, so please come say hello.

I’ll also be moderating a panel titled “The Wide World of Speculative Fiction” from 1:30-2:30 pm. Here’s a little description…

Speculative fiction encompasses a broad range of genres. What is the defining characteristic of a story that’s labeled speculative? What sub-genres blend well together? How do writers create an atmosphere of ‘otherness’ in their speculative storytelling? Who are our readers? Join a group of experienced authors and take a deep dive into the wide world of speculative fiction!

Before I sign off, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I just want to tell you, my dear readers, how grateful I am. People write for different reasons. They might need to process a particular event or reflect on their own feelings. They might have a story they want to tell, but it’s too personal to share beyond a small circle. These are all valid reasons to put pen to paper, of course, but I’ve always written with the intent of offering my stories to the world. Without readers, I’m not sure I’d write.

I want others to connect with my stories, lose themselves in another world, fall in love with the characters. It’s gratifying to hear that someone enjoyed my work, but the interactions with readers mean more to me than that. I thrive on the connections I make with people who love storytelling. We’re sharing an experience, and I am beyond grateful for that. So, thank you for reading my stories, for reaching out to tell me you enjoyed them, for stopping by my table at a signing, for sending me a quick note or leaving a review. It means everything to me!
