Have You Heard of Kindle Vella?

Dear Maggie,

Have you heard of the new Kindle Vella platform. If yes, are you going to upload any stories there?

Sincerely,

Waiting in Wabash

Dear Waiting,

I’m so glad you asked! I currently have a live story on the Kindle Vella platform. For those of you who haven’t heard of Vella yet, it’s Amazon’s newest writing and reading platform. Here’s how it works…

Writers create an account and upload ‘episodes’ of their story. Readers can access the first few episodes of that story for free, and then they can unlock the rest with purchased tokens.

As a writer, it’s really interesting to write and upload these episodes as I finish them vs writing an entire novel and editing it multiple times before readers ever see a word. While I can go back and make updates on the Vella platform, it’s not practical to change big chunks of the story, so in a sense, I’m locked into the choices I make early on in that story. This method is certainly stretching me as a storyteller!

I’ve used the opportunity this new platform presents to write a darker, edgier, and yes a little naughtier romance, which may or may not appeal to fans of my Tactical Solutions International series. Here’s the synopsis…

When Frankie Calisi runs headfirst into a sexy stranger at the coffee shop, the chance meeting turns into something more. But the man of her dreams isn't who he seems. Andrei Kotov has a job to do, and that job is Frankie. Despite his growing obsession with her, there's no way around it. He delivers or they both die. Will Andrei find a way to save Frankie from a fate worse than death? Will she forgive his betrayal even if he does?

If this little teaser piques your interest, you can find the almost completed story here: BETRAYAL on KINDLE VELLA. Amazon is currently running a promo to access all episodes for FREE, so check it out. If you enjoy the story, please consider a review and a thumbs up!

Do you have a question for me? Send it to maggie@msmaggieclare.com, and I’ll answer it here on the blog.
