Are You Ever Gonna Write Another Book?
Dear Maggie,
It’s been a while since you’ve published anything. What’s going on?
Sincerely,
Impatient in Ipswich
Dear Impatient,
You’re right! It has been a while since I’ve published anything, at least in the romance world. I’ve mentioned before that I’m in grad school working on my MFA in creative writing. For the program, I’ve been doing a lot of creative writing, so my creative output is pretty great at the moment, however, not all of it is romance.
Here’s an update on what I am working on…
In the TSI series, I still have plans for three more books. Book 5, titled Blood Ties, is more than halfway complete. Book 6, titled Imminent Threat, is finished, but I can’t release it before Book 5. Yes, I know this seems ass-backwards, but the story arc for Blood Ties was giving me trouble, whereas everything just seemed to flow for Imminent Threat, so I used that momentum to get my writing back on track for the series.
I’m trying my hand at a contemporary rom-com, which is a little different for me. No serial killers, stalkers, drug cartels, etc.! This project started as a short fiction piece I wrote for class, and I loved it so much that I developed it into a full-length novel titled Run, Harry, Run! I’m over half-way finished with the rest fully outlined. If you missed the sneak peek I offered a couple of months ago, you can read the teaser HERE.
You probably know I also write non-romance stuff under my given name, Tabitha Lord. A big project I’m working on will be published as Tabitha, but will likely appeal to many of my Maggie fans as well. It’s a romantasy titled The Dragon Dancer of Krysh, featuring dragons of course, but also a big world with magic, evil princes, a swoon-worthy hero, a kick ass heroine, and a great supporting cast. If you’re a Sarah J. Maas fan, or you if loved Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Dragon Dancer might be your jam.
Dreamwalker, a thriller with a supernatural twist featuring a vigilante assassin and an undercover FBI agent, is still on submission looking for a home. As soon as I have updates on that, I’ll let you know.
Finally, I’ve written some short fiction for class that I’ve repurposed for publishing. My very first mystery story titled “The Accused, Charity Vale” will appear in Inkd Publishing’s anthology, Detectives, Sleuths, and Nosy Neighbors, to be released next month. I’ll post the link as soon as I have it. “Monster,” my horror short, will be coming soon to audio on the Tales to Terrify podcast. I’ll send that link when I have it as well.
So, lots happening! For the first time in my writing career, I have several unfinished projects awaiting my attention. The upside of this is when school’s finished, I’ll have a ton of new material ready to go! Thanks for sticking with me and for the great question. Do you have a question for me? Send it to maggie@msmaggieclare.com, and I’ll answer it here on the blog.
